Yeah the chances of the Reds matching up with those teams rotations weren’t good, but the opportunity to do it likely would’ve been there at least once or twice. Baseball in a small sample short series can be awfully unpredictable and strange, so who knows? 88 probably would’ve been their best shot with Browning, Rijo, and Jackson having the kind of year he had.

Funny you say that. In this triggered fidget spinner world we live in now, if the same exact thing happened, it most certainly would have been taken in differently by the general public.
Back then though, most sided with BP and thought it was hilarious. So that's what we have as our memory of it.
Here's the clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N63sJobrscc A shortened version of it anyway.
Hilarious!!!

Welp, it's patently obvious that the Astros hired Dusty solely to shield the team from criticism with a veteran and respected manager like himself. A good PR move from the Astros, one of the few they've had this Spring, but something that will be hard to swallow. I really like Dusty as a person but I rescind my "I hope he succeeds" comment.
So it is written. So it shall be done.

Dusty will add “Jr.” to the name on the back of his uniform. That’s a nod to his father, Johnnie B., who passed away in 2009.
