Chicago was a Super Bowl pick in 2018. If they're serious about competing this year, it makes sense to trade one of their two 2nd rounders, especially since Dalton and Lazor have history together. Doesn't have to be a 2020 draft pick, though.

I still think the Colts are potential suitors. Brissett is a bridge QB - he isn't the long term answer, and may actually be cut this offseason. Dalton has a lot of football left in him, IMO, and I think he'd do really well behind their behemoth line.

Feels like the Brady domino needs to fall to get this underway.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

Dalton for an aging defensive starter, lineman, or equivalent might make more sense for the Bears and Bengals at this point.

On tap this week - Combine - now moved mostly to Prime Time for those who like to watch the running and drills and what not. Thursday - Sunday for that coverage. ZT and Tobin will speak to the media from Indy. Oh, so will Burrow. And this will be the first official "meet" for the Bengals with Burrow. Each team gets 45 player interview slots for 18 minutes each. The arrivals, meetings, medicals, weigh-in etc start today I believe, and continue through to the on-field stuff later this week.

Saw a trade idea with the Bears that makes sense: Dalton and the Bengals 4th for one of Chicago's 2nd. That first pick on day three is quite valuable.

I would sign up for that I wonder if Tobin is creative enough to make it happen....

Interesting fact from Chad Forbes...Cowboys made 420 million last season...Bengals had 58 million of operating income...

This is why the pick is going to be Burrow...have to get the revenue stream going.

No word on what Burrow will do at the combine as of yet...I doubt he throws.

Herbert, Love, and Eason plan to participate...I am looking forward to Herbert cutting it loose a bit.

I hope Burrow doesn’t do anything at the combine but the interviews. Bubble wrap is fine.

Re: 2020 Cincinnati Bengals - non-owner complaining thread zone

I referenced Daniel Jeremiah's pod where he talked about burrow a few weeks back as a must listen, but for those that couldn't hear it, Peter King got Jeremiah to talk about what he covered on that pod in his column - putting it here for those who missed it the first time on what happened between 2018 and 2019 for Burrow:

    https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...?cid=nbcsports

Jeremiah: “He was training an hour from my house with [QB coach] Jordan Palmer. He was out there with Sam Darnold and Josh Allen and Kyle Allen. I went up there and watched him work out, throw. I had a chance to visit with him for 20 minutes. I said, ‘Joe, you’re gonna get asked this question at the combine: Why the unbelievable leap from last year to this year?’

“He said, first of all, he’s a grad transfer. Most grad transfers transfer in the spring. He said, ‘I got to LSU after the freshmen had already reported for full camp.’ So you talk about trying to learn everything in a heartbeat and try to get to know your teammates, and then plug in and be ready to play. That’s the first part of it. Second part, he hadn’t played much football in the previous three years. There was some rust. Okay, this makes sense. And then schematically, and this is the big one, they were in a lot of seven-man protection in that offense last year. Burrow, his greatest gift, and you can see it this year when you watch him, is he has the vision to be able to take a snapshot of the entire field, to see everything, to process, and to throw accurately. Well, when you’re in seven-man protection and you limit the number of guys that can get out on a route, you’re limiting the answers you can give somebody. He was handicapped by them trying to mass-protect him. There’s no room for him to use his athletic ability to take off and go if you want. There’s no room for him to slide around, more around, find windows. It was just a congested brand of football.

“And then, you look at this year. He gets [passing-game coordinator] Joe Brady in there. He becomes a master of the offense. At the beginning of the season, they were in a bunch of six-man protection, which he’s playing really well. And he said eventually Joe Brady said in week three or four, ‘Let’s just go five-man protection. Let’s get everybody out into the route.’ When they did that, [he] completed about 80 percent from that point on.

“His super-power is his ability to see the entire field, to work through progressions, and then throw the ball accurately. So they kind of unlocked that super-power this last year. And the rest is history.”

I told Jeremiah: “You’ve got to tell America that on TV this week.”

“I’ve only got 28 hours!” he said.

5 man protection sounds great but they better sign 3 more good linemen.

And they better cater the offense to Joe, not the other way around.

Burrow murdered the BS narrative of "pulling an Eli" from the podium. That's done. Here's one of the money shots:

Burrow is an odd dude, but he does have that moxy that you want with a QB. He has everything off the field you want in a QB, its about him doing it on the field.

I mean, all they asked him was "If the Bengals drafted you, would you be happy to play there?" I don't understand the dude's reasoning because it's not a trick question.

"Yeah sure, I'd be happy to play there.I'd be happy to play anywhere. I just want to play in the NFL. It's always been a dream."

Done. No one has to say anything about whether he's happy to play in Cincinnati and that's the perfect canned answer he could've given unless he's purposely trolling everyone.
