MLB: Montreal sharing plan ’100 percent’ best way to keep Rays in Tampa Bay

    https://www.tampabay.com/sports/rays...-in-tampa-bay/

ORLANDO — Major League Baseball officials and owners now see the season-sharing plan with Montreal proposed by the Rays as the best way — “100 percent” — to keep a team, albeit part time, in the Tampa Bay market, commissioner Rob Manfred said Thursday.

"People continue to believe that the two-city alternative they’re exploring is viable and could be a really good solution for keeping baseball in Tampa Bay,'' Manfred told the Tampa Bay Times after a scheduled owners meeting.

I watch most of my Reds games on TV.

I'd be good if they played until May in Arizona.

    This doesn't seem much different.

Every few months, mlb has to find a way to keep pressure on Tampa politicians and taxpayers.

Florida baseball is/was just a poorly executed experiment.

I hope they relocate them before they talk of expansion.

This is such a joke. The Ray's are very viable in Tampa. It is the ballpark which is the worst in baseball. And its location is awful to get to and there is not a lot around it. If the built a new stadium to the east of Tampa it would open up a couple of million people to reasonable go to games and make it an easy trip from Orlando.

I like 35 miles from Tropicana on a weekday night I would be lucky to make it there in 1.5 hours. And driving in traffic here is insane. It is the wild west of driving I have never seen so many accidents

I didn't know that about Tampa traffic.

Why would the players union allow this or do they have a say? If I played for Tampa and was facing playing 75% of my games away from my home and family I’d get out of that organization as fast as I could

I remain at a loss why either the team or the city of St. Pete wants to continue their current arrangement. They need to split up.

Interesting point. But the pay rate can make up for a lot of heartbreak.

The Florida/Canada shared team thing is an absurd idea that will never come to fruition.

    It does sound ridiculous.

In theory, sure maybe it sounds doable. But the logistics...

Good post by a fan in TB detailing why they have the attendance issues they have. Not as intuitive as I would have thought...worth a read.
