Man is this dumb. Maybe we can get people to run baseball who don't hate the product?
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

This proposal would make the DH universal and eliminate tiebreaker games.

no7 seed between 2012-2019 per Verducci would have had an average record of 84-78. no1 seed 100 wins. Only 4 teams would have made playoffs with a negative record in those 8 years or 3.6%.

How do they go about eliminating tie breaker games? What happens if the 3rd and 4th WC teams end the season with the same record?

Any under .500 team making the playoffs in baseball is terrible for the game. So “only 4” is 4 too many.

That’s why 4-team divisions wouldn’t work in baseball. You’d have to play the same 3 teams 30 games a year, and still hope a division doesn’t have an under .500 winner. That’s why if they go to 32, there’s a much higher likeliness of four 8-team divisions.

I don't think it said but I would guess there would be some sort of criteria. Head to head, best record in the division, margin of victory, etc.

The worst part is favoring a team with the best record, when schedules are completely unbalanced.

What a joke, but it's not surprising considering the NHL and NBA do similar with success.

This isn't the worst idea I've ever heard. See, I found something nice to say about it!

I get it....you gotta move forward with the times but all this stuff(pitch clock, auto intentional walk, expanded playoffs, etc) reminds me of NASCAR a little in that they did everything in their power to usher in a new generation of fans and the end result was alienating their true fan base and seeing a drop in attendance and most of the venues

Shorter, faster-paced games is the key to baseball's ills. Not the postseason format.

Yea, MLB is kinda structured like this.

The one game WC playoff is stupid.

I am think four teams per league are fine for the playoffs, too often the 5th team doesn't belong.

Get playoff baseball on network TV, no more searching for TruTV in trying to find a playoff game.

Don't compete against the NFL during the playoffs and don't even compete against college on Sat's for the 8PM slot. Start games earlier, maybe 5 when the game can end during primetime.

Accentuate what baseball does well, don't try to turn it into a gimmick or make it more like football.

Feels like Manfred looked at the NBA and was like "how can we get some of their success without empowering our players, creating a salary floor, loosening our death grip on digital content, or dealing in a meaningful way with concerns about game integrity?" Ah, yes. It must be the expanded playoffs that makes the kids like the NBA. That's the ticket.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Instead of having them call balls and strikes I think we should let the robots run the league.
