Nor is it very surprising. #1 Senzel graduated, #2 Trammell was traded, #3 Greene was out all season after TJ, #4 India scuffed in 2019, and #5 Lodolo was just drafted and only pitched 18 innings. All of that coupled with a system that has taken a hit to its depth (losing Long, Downs, Moss and Gray) and I completely understand the ranking they've been given.

They haven't really been able to development anyone from a low level classification to the major leagues- their development piece is terrible and has been for 6-8 years. Players do make it to the majors but they have to be almost MLB ready or they get traded and THEN take a step forward. I got into a kind of throw down about a year and a half ago stating they were a bottom 5 team then -- it's not any better- the rating makes sense. Most of the milb guru's had them rated in the middle or much higher. They had no history of development then and i'm not sure why that was always overlooked.

I think it might improve with the Driveline guys and more of MLB pitching coach philosophy.

ESPN has the Reds system at 19, which is probably about right.
