    "Lodolo a Fast Mover?"- Fangraphs

    https://blogs.fangraphs.com/cincinna...-a-fast-mover/

Interesting read on one of our favorite pitching prospects.

How does a guy with that profile and scouting report place 92nd on someone's list? There is no way you can convince me that there are 91 better prospects in baseball.

From what I've seen most people have his ceiling at a no. 3 starter. So they are probably counting that he doesn't (in their opinion) have Ace upside into their rankings.
The television crews left and about 10 reporters remained in the room. That's when Price took his turn doing the talking.
What followed was a five-minute, 34-second expletive-filled tirade. The final tally was 77 uses of the "F" word or a variant and 11 uses of a vulgar term for feces (two bovine, one equine).

Lodolo has a ton of extra projection in his frame on top of his already put together arsenal. His ceiling is ace.
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

Was it just me, or did anyone else come away from that article thoroughly unimpressed?

Very little analysis and much more of a puff/ introductory interview piece.

    Meh.

Williams and Krall have both hinted that he'll probably begin in A+. That'll be good for his numbers-- and confidence.

If he's good at the All-Star Break, I could definitely see him bumped to AA. There's little in front of him, and the Reds may want to push him aggressively due to his pitchability and poise. I do get some Mike Leak vibes, but perhaps he finds a couple mph as he works with Boddy and company.

Included in @johnfayman's observations: Nick Lodolo didn't allow a ball in play during his live BP session. "He's nasty," Nick Senzel said. "Put him in the rotation."

When major leaguers start commenting on your stuff, it's generally a great sign.

They say that about everyone, though, it's how these writers hedge their bets.
(Referring to Jack Hannahan signing with a Korean team)
Since there are no teams on the moon, I guess South Korea's far enough from Cincinnati to satisfy me.

In scout speak, a #3 starter is what a lot of people would deem a very good #2, or borderline #1 (but not an ace). Scout speak, there are like 10 #1's in baseball at a given time. And maybe 20 #2's.

Does that make sense? Not really given that there are 30 teams and even an even distribution of talent would give you 30 of "each" - but that's kind of how things work. So no, it's not "writers hedging their bets". It's simply scout speak where a #1 is an Ace in the playoffs, and a #2 is a #2 in the playoffs - not an even distribution of talent across baseball.

Not worried that much about this year (although he could be an interesting mid-season call up in case of injury/poor performance/trade). What I'd really like is for him to be ready to go full-bore next OD. If both Disco & Bauer were to hit the market, having Lodolo ready to slot into one of their spots at MLB minimum salary would allow for some pretty decent $$$ to either re-sign one of them, acquire a possible upgrade or even address another need. An extension for Castillo or even Gray would not be a bad use either.

Hopefully, the same to a lesser extent with Garcia at SS and TySteve behind the plate.

It's important that these guys succeed on those last rungs of the minor league ladder.

Theoretically, the additions of Garcia (for Galvis), Stephenson (for Barnhart), and Lodolo (for Bauer) would mean $23M or so to be spent on a free agent.
