Pitch count of 50 seems very strange. Either way, glad to see the fans in Louisville have the ability to see 2 great pitchers for a bit.

it's not strange if the reds are planning on bringing him up as a reliever and don't want him wearing his arm out in the minors, while still getting him ready.

Boddy talked about it in his AMA yesterday.

"For Nick, it was primarily building up pitch count after the blister incidents and ensuring we can manage it. It hasn't been a problem, but as fans have seen, we're being reasonable with his pitch count at the moment to make sure we on-ramp him appropriately and we don't have any other cascading injuries.

A blister seems like no big deal, but if Nick (or anyone else) starts throwing the ball differently because of it, that can lead to stress on joints/soft tissue that he's not normally used to, and that could be a bad thing."

I know he missed time with the blister issue, but I didn't realize he's only thrown 44 innings. That's unfortunate but I understand Boddy's comment.

My daughter studied ballet under some pretty hard-core Russians who had come through the old Soviet system. Their mindset was that they had always had a basically unlimited supply of little girls who wanted to be ballerinas, so let’s put them all up on pointe when they’re seven years old, and if their feet get wrecked we’ll just bring in the next batch until we find some that can take it.

That way of thinking used to have its counterpart in baseball. I know stories of guys throwing 150 pitches in a spring training game because “We have to see if they can take it”. The financial investment that teams make in a top draft choice has seemingly changed that; the idea now seems to be “We have an exceptional talent here; let’s progress very carefully because if we screw too many of these types of guys up our organization will suck and we’ll get fired”. This, I think, makes more sense.

A couple of seats are getting warm with the big league club.

Since his pitching day is the same as Gray's, and Sonny can't pitch into the 6th inning, why not have Lodolo ready to pitch 2 or 3 everything 5th day with the Reds?

Reds prospect Nick Lodolo will not make his scheduled start at AAA Louisville on Sunday because of left shoulder fatigue.

I dont care, Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. Hes in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.

Man, shoulder fatigue? He's barely pitched this year.

What’s the word on both his and Greene’s shoulder issues, have there been any updates since last week?
