The club has been extremely busy over the last couple of days, signing two catchers and two right-handed relief pitchers. They sign two-time All-Star C Ray Fosse, who is added to the 25-man active roster as a third catcher behind Bill Freehan and Del Crandall. To make room for Fosse on the active roster, the club options 1B Hal Breeden to AAA, and to open up a spot on the 40-man roster, the club designates C/1B Tim Talton for assignment. The club also signs C Charlie Lindstrom to a minor-league contract for organizational depth.

On the pitching side, the club signs RHP Chuck Hartenstein and options him to AAA. To make room for Hartenstein on the 40-man roster, the club designates RHP Cloyd Boyer for assignment. The club also signs hard-throwing RHP Mike Overy to a minor-league contract.

In a separate transaction, the club also announces that C/1B/OF Adrian Garrett has accepted outright assignment to the minors.
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.
