    Just hope that you’re not the “player to be named later” when that team makes a trade
    Stick to your guns.

    I'd consider switching Kaline and Morgan, if only to break up my lefties. Then again, all of these guys could hit both sides of the mound so it doesn't really matter.

    2020 has been brutal to the history of the game. In more ways than one.

    Just keep the Reds hitting coaches away from all these greats. He would tell Brock you have got to beat the shift. Launch angle the ball Lou.

    Dick Allen was a controversial figure and I believe his rep as a troublemaker kept him out this long as he certainly has HOF credentials.

    I remember a feature on him in SI with a photo of him on the cover in the dugout during a game juggling baseballs with a cigarette in his mouth.

    I remember him as Richie Allen. Later decided he wanted to be known as Dick Allen, more mature name.

    Always seemed to have that reputational issue. Tremendous hitter, to be feared. RIP.

    12/7/2020...ex Red Sox, Brave, Ranger: Rogelio (Roger) Moret, age 71. https://www.lonestarball.com/2020/12...away-death-mlb ;
    Pitched a 1 hitter on Aug 21, 1974 against the White Sox. The only hit was by Dick Allen. Pitched against the Reds in the 1975 World Series.

    Moret could take Ed Farmer's spot on the all-time roster, and it'd balance out the bullpen nicely.

    I think he always preferred "Dick" but the Phillies wanted to call him "Richie Allen" to kind of drum up comparisons to Richie Ashburn.

    Yep.

    The 2020 Recently Deceased Team addresses one of the few weaknesses remaining on their roster by adding a left-handed middle reliever who can also start in a pinch.

    sorry to hear this. Somewhere I have a picture of a much yoiunger MTH123 with Menke taken somewhere in the bowels of Riverfront stadium. I have no idea where to find it, but I like Menke as a player. His best years were before he came to the Reds, but he seemed like a solid guy.
    All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

    Menke was in the Morgan trade. Was past his peak at that point. Solid type player, had a good career.

    It’s very sad to read about the loss of players I remember so well. The thread is a nice idea, though, appreciate reading through it from time to time. Thanks to those who contribute the (unfortunate) information.
