    Chris Sabo sighting

For University of Akron baseball coach Chris Sabo, cancellation is like starting over again

If you are of a certain age, you want to preserve Sabo, bottle some of who he was and sell it to some of the young players who have no idea. It’s the same game. Because the players get ever bigger/faster/stronger, it’s probably a more impressive game, too. But it’s not the same game, and that’s too bad.

When he got injured he lived across the street from my in-laws in a condominium village in Cincy. I kept wanting to walk over and knock on his door and see how he was doing (lol) ... but I didn't.

Does Doc think we should want to bottle up the part where he went to the plate with a corked bat?

He has a web address. Ask him.

First bat broke early in the at bat and got swapped for a corked one. Wasn’t there a rumor it was a pitcher’s bat or a BP bat?

Used to run into him all the time at the UDF in Blue Ash getting gas. Just a normal guy taking his kids to school. Drove the same thing I did: a Ford Explorer.

Glad he finally upgraded from the Escort.

Love this video, George Grande, the uniforms, Ray Knight with a "good golly how did that happen?" scratch of the head, the guys at the end of the dugout laughing about it.

I can only imagine how Thom would have reacted.

Thom? It would be like the Tedi Bruschi return to football...the announcers banged out his name over a hundred times.

I hate Doc when he just regurgitates a bunch of platitudes.

I haven't read him in years, but I don't remember him doing anything else with his writing.

He's got an occasional good piece now and then. It's more about when the subject matter dovetails with his cranky attitude than the reverse though...

Chris Sabo is a legend! Thanks for the story.

He was my favorite player as a very young kid...likely due to the glasses, but officially because he was a good player.
