"There are a "few" good players today-you can count em on the fingers of one hand. But generally they're just out there going through the motions, just playing for the money."

    ~ Joe Sewell - 1980

"He reminds me of a right-handed Roger Moret. He has that long and lean frame but good speed on his fastball and sporadic command."

~ Jim Rice on Zach Greinke

"Every morning when I wake up I always remember dreams, and I always have," James said. "Seven days out of 10, I remember a dream about baseball. Baseball is central to how my view of the world is organized, and I tend — to my detriment — to see the rest of the world as an extension of the principles that I look for in the study of baseball."

    ~ Bill James

"When I came up to the majors at 23, I was the All-American boy. I didn't drink, I didn't smoke, I didn't chase girls. I didn't stay out late at night. I was a health food addict. I was with the Yankees one week and we were in Washington D.C., and I got a call from one of the guys at 3:00 AM to come up on the roof of the hotel "to get drunk and look in the windows at women." That's when I realized wasn't in shape for the big leagues.

I know there is no crying in baseball per Jimmy, but if anyone like me played catch with their dad and you’ve lost him then you can’t get through that scene/quote from Field of Dreams without a tear.

Just an editorial, but that and Dance with Wolves are on only movies where I could stand Costner for 2+ hours.
