There isn't going to be a magic day where everything goes back to normal. It's going to be a process and I don't see any or at least many steps being taken towards a realistic plan to make that happen.
Probably just a function of putting out the 4 alarm fire they had in front of them first. But now that they seem to have a handle on that, you can hear the first sounds of turning the attention to the unraveling of stay at home orders.

Cuomo talked about it in some detail this morning. Talked about the antigen testing that they have developed in the NY state labs. Then talked about what scale it has to be brought to and solicited companies to step forward to help in that scale up phase. Then talked (his opinion) about the "classes" of people you could start phasing back into the workplace.

Dr. Bixr has spoken about it at the national level also over the last few days. Making the point that the scale up phase is critical for the testing and the lagging piece of the puzzle now that there are multiple antigen tests available.

To test enough people is going to be a HUGE job and it is going to require many different people at many different levels jumping in to sling shot it forward.

Yes that's all true. It is still baffling that it hasn't happened yet. Still huge back logs at private labs, lack of testing kits and supplies. Rationing tests to only the sickest people basically everywhere.

The bottom line is we aren't going to have any meaningful way forward until testing is increased substantially. I have yet to hear or see a plan of how that is going to reasonably happen.

    Why?

There basically shouldn't be anything else being talked about right now except the plan to get out of it and we literally don't talk about it at all except for platitudes about hope and how we are all in this together.

I have a friend who has taken an ambulance to the hospital once, and been driven to a different hospital by his wife another time in the last 30 hours. Both times he was having severe breathing problems. His chest was tight. He was having body aches. He's 33. Both hospitals told him "we don't know what's wrong with you - it could be COVID-19 manifesting in a different way, we keep seeing new ways" - but once his breathing stabilized a little bit, they sent him home and told him they needed beds for more critical patients. If he got worse, or got a fever along with the remaining symptoms to come back, but right now he is young, in shape with no underlying conditions and so he wasn't going to be tested.

It's been what, a month now, since "if you want a test you can get a test"?

You still can't get a test in New York until you're basically dying. There's no way the numbers coming out of that city are anywhere close to the actual number of cases.
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.

COVID-19 manifesting in different ways? Those symptoms are part of the classic presentation. What are they talking about?

I saw on the news yesterday from NY people riding the subway elbow to elbow, standing room only. Many were wearing masks but still...You know every inch of that subway car from the seats, the floors to the bar you're holding onto would test positive for C19. They're never going to get things under control there until that scene is eliminated

I wasn't there, so I'm only relaying what he told me. I just know that I about yelled through the phone both times I talked to him.

That's the theory, and the numbers seem to be backing that up. There have been multiple reports showing how many people are "dying at home" compared to the same day in past years, and it's about 10 times as many people per day as in the past. https://gothamist.com/news/surge-num...related-deaths

This. What the hell is the federal government doing? We need an actual strategy.

Lack of data. We have a denominator problem. Until there's mass testing for the virus and antibodies we don't really know what we're up against and how deadly it even is. Hard to imagine our country getting back to normal till we have more info.

They're just guessing about asymptomatic cases right now, and our entire economy is shut down. People are going under for something we don't even understand yet.

Frustrating all around. I get better safe than sorry, but livelihoods are at stake here. We should be better than this.

BERLIN (Reuters) - A group of clowns who usually entertain retirees in their rooms at seniors homes has taken to performing outside instead so their audience can watch from their windows or balconies while in coronavirus-enforced isolation. The clowns were determined that the seniors not be deprived of laughter by the virus, which has meant they cannot receive visitors or even go to their communal dining rooms to eat.
So the group from “Laughing Helps”, an association of “clinical clowns” who entertain people under medical and nursing care, started performing in courtyards outside the seniors’ rooms - at an appropriate distance from each other. “We don’t want to leave them alone,” said Tanja Selmer, alias Tiffy the Clown. “We thought, ‘what could we do?’ How could we give them a moment of joy nonetheless? Then we got the idea to just do it outdoors.” “We’ll go in front of the balcony ... they can see us and we can bring them closer despite the distance.”
"One problem with people who have no vices is that they're pretty sure to have some annoying virtues."

Buddy of mine owns a small chain of donut shops. He had to dig into his savings to make payroll for his 80 employees. He's applied for help and is waiting. In 2 weeks he can't do it again.
