I’m upset that a bunch of obnoxiously wealthy people are refusing to pay minor leaguers and are instead just releasing them.

And I never once said "who cares?" Some people can also get upset about minimizing the horrors of war by making statements like the one you quoted.

I don't really follow the minor leagues, but wouldn't the Reds have released minor leagues out of spring training?

It doesn't make sense to release minor leaguers now who they think have a future with the club, right?

There was a freeze put in place at that time.

I don't believe franchise owners care at all about what the minor leaguers think. As evidenced by their blank refusal to pay them much of anything for the work they do.

Its happening to people across the country. I feel bad for them, the timing could have been better, but for a large part wasn't this inevitable?

    Sure, it's inevitable.

    It's still ridiculous.

I don't see any of the high-priced players doing much to help out the money really goes either. They could always help make sure they're taken care of in negotiations

Add this whole debacle to the growing list of why MLB is the envy of absolutely no one.

Im curious, what should MLB do?

If you have players who would have been cut in March, should you keep them on the payroll for eternity?

David Price, Adam Wainwright, Daniel Murphy, even our own Nick Senzel-- each is a name you should research.

    (There are more beyond those.)

They should pay their minor leaguers a living wage.

They shouldn't try to destroy the minor league system in order to save a few bucks.

    Let's start there.

The worst part about the minor league plan is that apparently Houston proposed it and everyone went with it. Shows you how MLB really feels about the way the Astros are doing things. It's turning me off to the game.
