There is a lot of information being thrown out there now. But one thing that is striking is the shear number of new Covid cases, its alarming to say the least.

One of the unfortunate things happening lately is most experts have been pushed away and the decisions have been placed in the politicians hands.

    And there's more from Texas...

Internal messages reveal crisis at Houston hospitals as coronavirus cases surge

HOUSTON — At Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital on Sunday, the medical staff ran out of both space for new coronavirus patients and a key drug needed to treat them. With no open beds at the public hospital, a dozen COVID-19 patients who were in need of intensive care were stuck in the emergency room, awaiting transfers to other Houston area hospitals, according to a note sent to the staff and shared with reporters.

A day later, the top physician executive at the Houston Methodist hospital system wrote to staff members warning that its coronavirus caseload was surging: “It has become necessary to consider delaying more surgical services to create further capacity for COVID-19 patients,” Dr. Robert Phillips said in the note, an abrupt turn from three days earlier, when the hospital system sent a note to thousands of patients, inviting them to keep their surgical appointments.

And at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, staff members were alerted recently that the hospital would soon begin taking in cancer patients with COVID-19 from the city’s overburdened public hospital system, a highly unusual move for the specialty hospital.

    From Reuters:

The state line between New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria, which is highly porous and stretches hundreds of kilometres, is scheduled to close at 11.59 p.m. on Tuesday for the first time in 100 years.
Underscoring the need for decisive action, Victoria state reported a record number of new COVID-19 infections on Thursday, taking the national tally to a three-month high.
“There will be a significant military and police operation going on to monitor all cross-border activity,” NSW Police Minister David Elliott warned. “There’s serious fines and indeed, a jail sentence, to anyone that wants to push the envelope.”
People caught crossing the border without permission via any of the 55 roads that are heavily used by commuters, school children and road freight, or several river and wilderness crossings, will face penalties including a fine of A$11,000 ($7,700) and six months imprisonment.
Daily travel permits will be granted to people who live in border towns and cities but with the closure just hours away, the application system was still being developed.
Kevin Mack, the mayor of Albury, a border town on the NSW side, said with an estimated 50,000 car movements across the state line every day “it will be a nightmare for everyone.”

Maybe it's me, but when I read attitudes like yours put into words, it feels like when I was a little kid and my friends and I would taunt each other by claiming "you're not the boss of me!" I eventually matured, and came to understand that there are times when it's important to allow others to impose certain restrictions, while not reacting with that same "you're not the boss of me" attitude. This, in my mind, is most definitely one of those times.

Cool, but you're not the boss of me!

Sorry, but shutting down interstate travel is a bridge too far in my opinion.

What if it helped squash the virus?

Lots of things could help squash the virus that I'm not in favor of. Like banning all protest gatherings.

Well, technically it would be a bunch of bridges to nowhere.

Well I certainly don't agree with your opinion that your personal freedom is more important than the health of Americans, but your opinion is, at least, consistent.
