And now it seems that Diamondback's owner, multi-millionaire Ken Kendrick, is on his way to the poorhouse as well. Gosh, I feel sorry for these guys. Maybe we can do a food drive for them - drive up to the truck and drop off that extra jar of caviar you have laying around.

Simpson was supposed to be the next Vada Pinson, he had won the PCL batting title prior and was fast, he instead was the first Rolando Roomes

19-year-old Big Klu drank the Rolando Roomes Kool-Aid in 1989. He was convinced that Roomes was Eric Davis Lite.

I thought we had all agreed to never mention 1989 again.

I thought that was 1982, or was it 1993? Or 2001 through 2009? Or 2014 till the present?

I realize it's a send-up, but when I think of the poverty cries of owners and the general awfulness of people like Jeffrey Loria, I can't help but think of the final season of Brockmire. Just these incredibly out-of-touch, greedy jerks. There's no real civic concern (granted, there's always the obligatory local philanthropy) or regard for the game itself. Selig was clearly no good at managing the owners, and Manfred somehow seems even worse. Hard to be optimistic about the future of baseball.

No, it absolutely is not. The "millionaires" you speak of are the 1200 guys in the union.

Of the 1,453 players to accrue at least one day of service time last season, 590 (40.6 percent) have made less than $1 million in career earnings, according to the MLBPA’s breakdown. The median career earnings of that group was $357,718.

Max Scherzer had a good, clarifying point on twitter earlier. Lots of big corporations don't make much in the way of "profit," most notably Amazon. Accounting is a real head trip.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

In Baseball-Reference's simulation, Keyvius Sampson is the Baltimore Orioles' ace right now.

The major league minimum is 563000 I don't see how the median could be that low.

It's the median of the 590 guys with less than a million of career earnings. So it includes guys who spent one game in the bigs and thus earned $3,475. Those guys are pretty immaterial to this situation.

That's what I was thinking too. I'm sure if we bring it down not every owner is a billionaire either
