Major League Baseball sent a new proposal for the 2020 season to the Major League Baseball Players Association a short while ago, sources say.
They sent it privately instead of spreading it through social media first? How bizarre.

Thats kinda a non starter as no privately held company is going to open their books up to an employee.

If you think the players should received 100% of their prorated salary, thats understandable.

I think there should be some capitulation from the players due to unprecedented times.

That's certainly good news to us baseball fans. It sounds like both sides have finally come to their senses. This is what I figured would happen. I don't know what it is about baseball that they have to fight tooth and nail and they need heavy pressure before coming to a deal, but that's how it is with them. As I've said all along, it's a 50:50 thing

Per Heyman, MLBPA has agreed to waive any grievance.

Can the TV stations sue MLB for a refund if the owners effectively lock out the players this season?
I think that stuff is very much up in the air. IMO the answer is: that too will be up for negotiation. If i'm the networks, I'm very resistant to paying them for games not played

I agree - no way the players agree to waive a grievance without a deal already in place. I think we get some good news today.

"Source says no deal is close yet between MLB and MLBPA beccause the proposal was just sent by MLB. No agreement even in principle at this point."

So curb your enthusiasm fellas - but it is put up or shut up time.

no deal is close, but the players have agreed to waive a grievance? that doesn't add up.

    Passan:

There is no agreement between MLB and the MLBPA. MLB knows players must get full pro rata. League wants players to waive right to grieve. Expanded playoffs a part of this. Number of games is vital. Other issues, too. There is work to be done. But a pathway to a deal does exist.
Could be semantics though, a deal isn't there yet - but if the bones are there, and the meeting didn't result in a mess, then both Heyman and Drellich could be right.

    Per Olney:

Sources: The owners' latest offer to the PA is for 60 games, full pro-rata, starting July 19.
    Per Rosenthal:

    Source: MLB proposal includes:

    •60 games in 70 days
    •Season starting July 19th/20th
    •Full Prorated Salary
    •Expanded Playoffs in 2020 and 2021
    •Waiving of any potential grievance

Calling the owners bluff produced results - Tony Clark has redeemed himself in the eyes of Marvin Miller (RIP) and Don Fehr.

Good day for the union, and good day for baseball

    Re: Are We Gonna Baseball?

MLBPA has issued a statement denying that there is an agreement.

Me thinks Heyman either doesn't hear very well over his phone or read his texts correctly -- or is being played by management.

If MLB is offering 60 games on that schedule, it seems like they would be able to do another 5 or 6 games. Perhaps that's where we'll end up.
