    Now because of Covid the season is only 60 games, and there are 26 regular spots instead of 25 this year. And we'll have 40 players for 15 days, and for 14 more they'll have 28.

    So it won't take that much to keep him.
    I can see the Reds keeping Payton on roster. I can’t see him getting much playing time unless there is a rash of injuries/illnesses.

    They only have 60 games to make the playoffs, not sure they want to use that time to “see how” Payton does.

    They are rather deep in more experienced OFers.

    But yeah for Rule 5 purposes, I can see him being on roster.

    Payton was put on waivers and added to the Athletics player pool.
