So Bell’s comment doesn’t say much. It’s a matter of an extra player or two for the larger roster early in the season. Doesn’t mean any shocking player move is likely.
His comment may not mean much to you but it means some of the 35 players training at GABP won't be on the roster on Opening Day.

Well at least five of them won't be on the opening-day roster I can guarantee it :-)

You're right but who woulda thought that 7 or more wouldn't make it?

With the REDS' stellar starting pitching depth, I don't see how they shouldn't be the favorites to win this abbreviated 2020 season. They'll certainly reach the playoffs and should excel in those, too, where there isn't time for very many off days. This "sprint" favors the teams with the greatest starting pitching depth, and the REDS have the best in both leagues.

Maybe they are just wanting to keep him as happy as possible....so if nobody picks him up off waivers, he will be open to remaining in the organization.

Every time Reds make player moves it affects those players personally. But the team and fans may nevertheless consider the moves to be inconsequential.

If Reds keep a couple of Prasco guys for limited bench duty briefly, while rosters are expanded, could be inconsequential to the team and its fans.

There are questions about many of the Reds OF. We hope they are answered the way we want. But we don't really know. Senzel was disappointing his rookie year. Castellanos can opt out this year or next. Shogo has never played in MLB. Payton is a one year AAA wonder. Aquino struggled in Sep, struggled in Winter Ball and struggled in Spring Training. The closest guys we have to majors (Friedl and Fairchild) look to be 4th outfielder types. Winker and Ervin have terrible splits.

In the brief stints when he's been healthy Schebler has played well. He had as many homers in 2017 as Winker has in his career. After shoulder surgery again last year, he's supposedly healthy again. You give him a look (whether in practice or in games). If you don't see what you like, then you cut him.

It bothers me that Castellanos is viewed as a Starter. Winker is lights out better than him and Ervin is also better.

Winker needs to start. Ervin behind him. Castellanos needs to be an afterthought.

    Winker Starts in LF.

    Senzel Starts in CF.

    Shogo Starts in RF.

Sub Defensively with Ervin for Winker in the 6th/7th.

What has Castellanos ever done other than have a couple of months of fun at late-summer Wrigley?

    Nothing is the answer.

    Maybe it's the beard.

OK. Bat him cleanup and start him in LF. DH Winker and bat him 2nd.

Getting stir-crazy waiting for this to get going.

Some teams didn't even have any testers show up yesterday.

Reasonable projection. Still think Moose won’t hit below fifth against RHP. And Shogo will play some against LH starters - if Reds face LH starters more than a few times. But otherwise, seems reasonable.
