Sal Romano must be the greatest guy in the clubhouse. Wow he gets more love from Reds than he has earned.

There are only 57 players on those list.

I think Jankowski as an option left

    He has options.

    Jankowsi has an option? Fantastic.

BTW I assume DD was told his chances of making the active roster was a little slim. And he probably had an opt-out. So right now I figure he is shopping his wares and if he doesn't find a spot where he might make the active squad, might very well end up back with us (with no opt out)

Krall said Dietrich is still in the organization but left him off to maintain roster flexiblity. He could be added later. #reds

Re: Reds’ 60-man player pool for 2020

Hunter Greene left off as he finishes his rehab. "He's a guy we're trying to figure out how to maximize this year for him." - Krall. #reds

    Further statement

"We want to figure out how to progress him forward. He wasn't a consideration now, but we've got 3 spots open. You can always add people at a later date."

Maybe a good sign for Payton. But Reds still have to get down to a 30 man active roster by Opening Day. They have six outfielders training at GABP, not sure they intend all to stay (as Payton must to remain a Red).

He’s still a Rule 5 player vying for a contending roster. But for now, yes, his chances stay alive.

Probably because Reds have 11 outfielders in their 57-man player pool.

Re: Reds’ 60-man player pool for 2020

I think they just want Payton with the big league guys so they can evaluate him. I'm guessing they open with 16 pitchers and 14 position players. I don't see Payton making it.

Barnhart, Casali, Farmer, Votto, Moose, Galvis, Suarez, Winker, Senzel, Castellanos, Akiyama, Ervin, VanMeter. Aquino

    Castillo, Gray. Disco, Bauer, Miley

    Mahle, Sims, Reed, Raley. Deleon

Iglesias, Lorenzen, Garrett, Stephenson, Strop, Bowman,

Raley takes Payton's spot on the 40 man. Raley, Deleon and probably Mahle are minor league shuttle guys along with the others not listed.

Starters aren't going to be able to go deep in games and relievers probably won't be ready for back to back days at the beginning of the year. They need a lot of arms and the 30 man will probably change a lot. The DL will also come into play
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

    Seems reasonable.

Looking over the list, I feel as I did during ST. Reds should trade an OFer for a good utility infielder who can start in case of injuries. Reds should also try to add another solid lefty reliever, somebody at a higher level than the non-roster candidates.
