still think it matters.....factor in travel and just the overall comfort that comes with playing in your home stadium which is a short drive from your own bed, etc., etc.

I do think getting to bat last has some sort of advantage, knowing exactly how many runs you need in a close game, when to deploy your closer, that sort of thing. But that's just a guess, really.

Hope none of the starting rotation gets COVID.

I feel more confident about the Baseball season completing than I do the NBA season even though it is in a "bubble". Players will test positive, but it is so much easier for a baseball team to move forward without a player or 3 for a few weeks....they do it every season. Evan if a star player like Mike Trout tested positive, it will not destroy the season....in contrast if Lebron or Giannis test positive and are out for 3ish weeks in the playoffs, their team is likely finished.

I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but would like to hear some thoughts.

At pro rated pay, what is the harm of Giving Puig a 5M dollar contract and paying him 2M to be on the expanded roster.

Arm/Pop/Defense and Speed - Low cost, he liked it here and played well.

Maybe even get creative and offer a 2nd year team option for 7Mill to entice him. I dunno.

I dont trust our OF, especially Aquino, Winker and Sogo (Unknown) - I would even entertain an offer to keep a postseason competitor like the Braves from getting hime (Replace Markakis)

If you give him a 5M contract now you'll have to pay him 5m wouldn't you.

Then give him the 2M, which is 5M pro rated. I think you understand what I was saying.

No ones giving him the equivalent of a 13 million dollar deal

Reds will play exhibition games against the Tigers on the Tuesday and Wednesday before opening day.

No word if those will be televised, but I hope so.

Schedule advantage, most seeing Reds benefiting from DH in NL (Castellanos), outstanding starting rotation, Reds historically doing well to start a decade (1970, 1990, 2010 league/division titles)...what's not to like?

No thanks. We already have too many OF's to sort thru. Next year we'll have a better idea what we have in a lot of guys. But if Shogo and Senzel alone are good, we don't have room.

Probably be on TV, they are desperate for some live sports to show.

Honestly it'd be great for the entire team to just get it now so they won't have to worry about ridiculous quarantines during the season

The home field advantage is more about not having to travel and batting last. I don’t think that having someone cheer you on is that important.
