Also add the 1988 All Star game players. The AL had a bunch of HOFer's.

Good topic for my 1st post. I was at the 88 game, too. Rickey Henderson was one of my favorite players growing up & at 15 I was bursting with excitement to finally get to see him play in person. Both rosters were insane, though. I never would’ve dreamed it would be a 2-1 game but that’s just my luck, lol. I LOVE good pitching & defense but was hoping for a high scoring all-star game. No coincidence the skills competition & other activities were rained out the night before, as well. But, when Sabo stole 2nd & 55,000 ppl were chanting his name I swear I felt the stadium shake. One of the coolest sports moments I’ve seen live. That is definitely the most star power I’ve seen in one place, although my hometown hosted the Negro League reunions & HOF in the early 80s & while they weren’t playing or young it was awesome being in the presence of guys like Mays, Banks, Paige, Cool Papa Bell, etc. And, they were very accessible.

I once went to a game at Candlestick in 98: https://www.baseball-reference.com/b...99806030.shtml

Dick Vitale was a row ahead of me, all game guys would walk by and go "Yeah babeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

One more piece of logic you so blatantly ignore: I think Bench is the greatest. Must be another one of those ancient legends before the days of television when guys left their mitts on the field while their team was at bat.

I saw Aaron, in '74, but he was a shell of his greatness, so I don't know if that counts.

The greatest player I ever saw live who played great when I saw him was Eric Davis. No one was as overall talented and skilled at the game as E. Everyone considers Larkin and Griffey jr. better, but that's only because they played at a great level longer. But at his breif zenith, he was the best I saw live.

Btw, I am not counting any PED users. That clearly shouldn't count for this.

Frank Robinson. The guy was amazing. Saw him at least 10 times at Crosley.

Saw him once in the home opener for the Angels in 1973. He hit a HR in his first AB as an Angel. Nolan Ryan pitched a complete game on a chilly night. Unfortunately for the Angels, a season that started with so much promise turned south after that inspiring start.

I feel like Pat Day did that every day at Churchill Downs when I was growing up. Except Derby Day.

But he was "not a young" 30. That trade was not one of the Reds finest moments.

Lots of great names on this list.

Am I the first one to say Mariano Rivera or Ichiro?

I saw Trout in the 2014 ALDS in Kansas City. Don't recall him doing anything notable, though, as the Royals completed the sweep.

Hmmm, I looked it up, and Trout actually homered in the first inning of that game. Definitely do not recall that, but I guess I should add him to my list then!
