At 10, I was all about Johnny Bench, but I had a special place in my heart for Concepcion as well.

The greatest catcher of all time, Johnny Bench.

Johnny Bench for me.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

Don't really remember, though it was probably Bench.

When I see the 2016 Reds, I see a 100 loss team and no direction.

Mickey Mantle
As a little kid, I was a Yankee fan before I grew out of it.

Frank Robinson, I turned 10 during the 1961 World Series, the following summer when I was still 10 it would have been Jim Maloney since he was a fellow Fresonian.

It originally was Johnny Bench, because when I was 5, we went to Rikes and they were giving away Reds T-shirts with a purchase of sneakers. You could choose from a Bench, Rose, Perez or May. Bench was #5 and I was 5, so I choose his shirt, and became my favorite player.
Then in 1975, at age 9, I opened my first Topps pack of cards, and on top was the George Foster card, so he became my second favorite player. When he was moved into the starting lineup and did well, he became my favorite. It was perfect timing, as I could say I was a fan before his historic 1977 season.

Jim Maloney.
I had one of those old Topps all star coins, and he’s the reason I became a Reds fan in 1965.
