I get your reticence. But to explain what I mean let's take Russiagate.

No, there was no Star Chamber that dreamed up this nonsense. It did probably have its roots in the "Intelligence Community" (looking at you John Brennan), but it served a variety of interests: the Hillary campaign creeps who wanted to explain their loss to a clown who wasn't even trying to win, the Neocons who wanted to ratchet up a cold war with the Russians, the news media who wanted to capture PMC ratings, etc...

    Enter UBI
If the ruling class wanted UBI it would have happened years and years ago. Our government would be floating monthly stimulus checks instead of the one we received back in April. I mean, come on folks, you’re giving the ruling class entirely too much credit. They don’t want UBI and they don’t want the peasants sitting at home and not working. They want people working tens of hours a week for pennies and to spend it on their crappy goods.
What would you say.....ya do here?

I definitely understand there are opps at high levels. I just believe there are too many actors involved for there to be too many genuine conspiracies. People are messy and have conflicting interests.

Working, UBI. They don’t care. I’m also talking about shrinking the public sector. Which they will always take an opportunity to do.

Yes, partially. Charles Murray, the creepy think-tanker who wrote the racist "Bell Curve" wrote a book advocating an UBI to replace much of the welfare state and public employment. In fact there's a long history of right-wingers who advocates of UBI and left-wingers who are opposed.

Right-wingers just don't want a UBI, like the current enhanced Unemployment, which amounts to $26/hr, that keeps people from slaving for low wages.

But they're fine with a substandard UBI that keeps people from fighting for control of the means of production.

I think people don't really get what socialism is. The idea is that the people who create the value, the workers, should get to keep that value. It's not that people should sit at home. Marx was clear that what makes humans humans is our tendency to produce and not just feed.

Thanks for the lesson on socialism, but I said nothing about it?

You’re right though, people definitely misunderstood Marx since every major example of it throughout history ended up being a small group of people led by a dictator taking advantage of and slaughtering their comrades.

All right, fair enough. I was addressing people who think UBI is socialism and that's not you.

As to the last part, here we are. The capitalist end-point doesn't look that great, does it?

    So, how about that COVID?
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

So its really your belief that we've been working on a SARS vaccine from 2003 until now? Wow.

Never said capitalism was perfect or even optimal. I frankly do not know what is, probably a mix of the two. Extremes are usually bad.

You people are completely nuts. Seriously, go back and read these past few pages, good lord.

Is it so hard to focus on the problem at hand, the pandemic that has been completely ravaging the poor communities full of people that are forced to work essential jobs? The folks you supposedly care so much about?

Instead we're on about... that the global elites are using the virus as a means to institute permanent distance learning in order to stick it to the teachers' unions? Do I have that right? Oh and that's not to mention that the pharma companies are all going to lie and fake data so that we have to keep taking booster shots, but also remember that this vaccine is probably going to be deadly and rushed to the market -- it's real 4d chess. But also ALSO remember that is vaccine very highly likely won't ever come to fruition, I guess? Meanwhile the same cadre of global elites are conspiring to install a UBI for the purposes of making sure the proletariat never owns their own labor, but not before they cleverly rejected one in favor of a increased unemployment insurance for... reasons.

And that is... maybe half of the crazy BS that's been posted? You people need to get. a. grip. Christ, is it any wonder this country can't get its **** together?

These are the folks who are likely on the saner side of the political spectrum, too.
