even if Tampa Bay holds off the Dodgers for the win.....it feels like it is going to be a tall feat to hold off this Dodgers lineup for 4 games. I think they can do it, but every inning feels like a real battle.

Or the reputation of the hitter! And there would be less whining trying to get the next call.

Oct. 21: Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa has interviewed for the White Sox managerial opening, according to a report by 670 The Score. The report adds that general manager Rick Hahn and executive vice president Kenny Williams each spoke with La Russa, whom they view as a leading candidate to fill the position after Chicago mutually parted ways with Rick Renteria.

La Russa, 76, managed the Athletics dynasty of the late 1980s, winning three consecutive American League pennants from 1988-90, winning the World Series in '89. He also led the Cardinals to a pair of World Series titles in 2006 and '11. But La Russa's first managerial job was with the White Sox, whom he helmed from 1979-86, before he became manager in Oakland.

I suppose it shouldn’t bother me but I just died on the inside watching Walker Buehler during pregame talk about how he grew up a Reds fan and looked up to Harang/Arroyo/Cueto.

In addition to his role as “crusty old veteran”, Chase Utley also played the role of a guy who faked a HBP that ultimately led to a game changing rally in the 2010 playoffs. Then there was that whole dirty slide in 2015 against the Mets.

Never understood all the love for that guy.

I’m glad that Randy Arozarena is no longer a Cardinal

Red Sox interview Twins bench coach Mike Bell for managerial job

Bench coach Mike Bell, hired last winter after his predecessor, Derek Shelton, left to become manager of the Pirates, has interviewed via video call for the vacant Red Sox managerial job, multiple sources confirmed on Friday. Boston is seeking a replacement for Ron Roenicke, who was let go after just one season in charge. Roenicke, appointed to replace Alex Cora after he was implicated in the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal, guided Boston to a 24-36 record, last in the AL East.

Bell, brother of Reds’ manager David Bell and son of former Tigers, Rockies and Royals manager Buddy Bell, came to the Twins after a decade in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ front office. He had experience as a minor-league manager from 2007-09, and interviewed for other managerial jobs last winter.

Through age 28, Justin Turner was a nondescript ballplayer (926 PA - .684 OPS). Since moving to the Dodgers he has been playing at a Hall-of-Fame level (3076 PA - .886 OPS - 139 OPS+).
