And it turned out the way it did, the fair way with the players deciding it based on their skill, because the ump got the close pitches correct. How many times do you see the ump miss one and the outcome is tremendously unfair? They can't do electronically called balls and strikes soon enough so that we can much more often see the fair outcome from the skill of the players.

So the Wi-Fi or whatever goes down, who umpires then? How will the strike zone be defined for the machine for different size players, lets kill this idea fast Ok

The ump who's sitting behind the plate. Though it's not a terribly complex system, so it should be highly reliable.
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

I’m a technology guy but, for the longest time, I was totally against automated strike zone. I tried to poke holes in it, but Doug and others here convinced me that they have all the bases covered with this technology. Yes, it is possible for there to be IT technology issues with the infrastructure, but like M2 said, the let the umps call it.

I always thought that umps calling the game was part of the color of the sport. But times change. The modern (and younger) fan is much more technologically astute. Seeing incorrectly called balls and strikes seems to really bug the crap out of them. I grew up with good calls and bad calls and I thought it was part of the game so I never got stuck on it. But modern technology has made it blatantly obvious what the bad calls are. I think it’s time for change. As the saying goes, the only constant is change.

If your argument is “what if the wi-fi goes down” doesn’t that point out that human umps aren’t as good as the robots?

I’m willing to totally accept “I just like the human umps” as this point. That’s ok by me. But there’s really no other rationale for wanting humans over the robots - and an ump would still be at home plate...he’s not losing his job.

Corey Seager seems a bit locked in I'd say

You can't ask for better baseball than what we've been enjoying in the last two series.

They've been played at an exceptionally high level.
