I saw something that mentioned health concerns

Ron Gardenhire has mentioned multiple times dealing with shaky hands, generally not feeling well. Seems genuinely concerned about his health. Can't be easy for him to walk away. But he also seems confident this is the right decision.

    He's also still cracking jokes

Al Avila says Ron Gardenhire told him his decision today.

Bench coach Lloyd McClendon will run the team for the rest of the season.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

The thing I read said - a current bout of food poisoning helped make the decision early as it was planned that he would retire at seasons end.

Love Gardy - wishing he and his the best

Went down the Twins manager rabbit hole looking into Gardy and can't believe that the Twins hired Tom Kelly in 1986 at the age of 36 and he retired due to burnout in 2001 at the age of 51.

He always looked like an old man to me as a kid.

Heck here he is in 1987 at the age of 36-37!

Dang, you're right dude. He does look like a guy in his 50s in that picture.

Just this month the #Marlins have lost games by:
    *20 runs
    *15 runs
    *11 runs
    *10 runs

And they are still going to make the playoffs.

Royals OF, Alex Gordon, is retiring after the season ends.

    He had a good career.

Question is going to be whether he's a Hall of Famer.

Many in KC are going to believe yes, but for me, he barely qualifies as part of the Hall of Very Good.

Already seen KC fans talk about him as a Royal royal on their particular Mt. Rushmore with Brett, Quiz, and White.

    I don't buy it, personally.

He's definitely a Royals Hall of Famer. That's a pretty sad Mt. Rushmore for them, though.

The Pirates just won 3 outta 4 games vs the Cubs.

    Bob Nightengale
    @BNightengale
The #Cubs lose 7-0 today, and have scored just 10 runs in their last seven games, while magic number remains at 3 to win the NL Central with upcoming weekend series vs the #Whitesox

I assume the Cubs would win the tiebreaker if we both ended up 32-28, but I still want us to tie them somehow or someway.

All we need is help from some dumb pirates.

    I'm not a system player. I am a system.
