    We Might Have “It”

Obviously we are running high off an opening win against a team that projects to be bad. But we roughed up a good MLB starter in Matthew Boyd. Sonny dominated. The new guys contributed. Even better is everyone seems to be playing for the same goal, and that goal is to win. They also seem to be playing for each other and enjoying it in the process. The post game interviews were great. Even our quiet natured, mega millions star is stepping out front to show support for teammates. Moose and Castellanos are great character additions. This team has the makings of a great clubhouse, which is wildly underrated in baseball.

My biggest fear was the Reds laying a dud tonight, that would seem par for the course in Reds country when there has been plenty of optimism surrounding them. Instead they dominated.

Maybe, just maybe we have it this year.

I really want to believe. In recent years, especially on offense, it felt like a win had to ride on the shoulders of one or two guys. This year it feels like it could come from any direction (or, as was the case tonight - all directions). You never know where a season will go but I'm feeling fantastic tonight.

Followed up last year's Opening Day win with eight straight losses. I hope they try a different strategy this year.

Last years team lacked Senzel, Bauer, Shogo, Galvis, Castellanos, Moustakas, and a reason for optimism. And a few others.

yeah....literally better lineup, better rotation, better bullpen and better defense than what we started with last season. It is not the Big Red Machine, but it is a Division Winning level roster.

Nice to have Reds baseball and a reason for optimism. A quality that is sorely lacking these days.

It’s been one game, I’m excited about this team too but the Tigers do suck.

    A) It's impossible to say when facing the Tigers, because they're truly terrible.

    B) Still, I think the Reds might be very good at baseball. More than just good, I think they might be dialed in. They remind me a bit of the 1990 Reds. They look ready to sprint out of the gate.

Probably the most excited I've been about a Reds team since I dunno when. I felt like we weren't too far off, and then we spent the money to make some big acquisitions and it feels like money very well spent. Love Shogo, Moose and Castellanos, especially in our park. Short season so anything can happen, but man this team can be so good.

If the other pitchers look like Gray and company did tonight we'll be hard to beat...even Raley looked good.

    Re: We Might Have “It”

I think bringing in Moose and Castellanos was the Reds doing what they need to do. Adding Miley and Shogo helps even more. I think the offense is going to be real good. The rotation has two top guys in Gray and Castillo, upside in Bauer and a strong back end in Disco and Miley. The bullpen has a ton of potential but I'm still skeptical of almost all of them. Hopefully all the main guys come back strong.

The team has what it takes as long as Bauer and the bullpen perform. Now they just need to stay healthy.

Only time will tell and it does appear that the Tigers will have another long year, but the Reds did what good teams should do to bad teams. Hopefully that continues.
