Perplexed by Winker leading off and not Shogo. Weird.

With Casali starting against a RHP makes me wonder if Barnhart is on Paternity Leave?

Votto, Suarez, Moose, Cast, in some order, 2-5 is the heart of the lineup, and a good one.

you can extend the heart of the lineup to shogo, imo. reds have an excellent 5-man punch with votto, suarez, castellanos, moose and shogo. then the dh will usually be either winker against a righty or ervin against a lefty (or davidson against a lefty like we saw yesterday). that is a pretty solid dh situation. i'm sure castellanos will get his share of time as a dh as well. really, the only "holes" in the lineup are shortstop and catcher, but relatively-speaking the reds are not in bad shape there at all. i would need to break down all the shortstop/catcher combinations across mlb, but i would guess the reds are at least league-average there with galvis and barnali.

Depends.....Mike Trout has spent a decent chunk of his career leading off. There is that school of thought that you hit your best player first no matter what. Probably applies more to a shortened season and a season with a new extra innings rule too. Maddon mentioned it this year.

The Braves are batting Acuna Jr leadoff as well and he mashed 41HR's last year.

I noticed as well. I'm guessing stacking the speed guys, Shogo and Senzel, in front of the bottom of the order makes more sense than running and potentially getting thrown out in front of the sluggers. If that's the rationale, I like it. Otherwise, its a happy accident. They can't really go wrong with the top 7 spots as long as Galvis and the Catchers hit 8th and 9th.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Agreed.....looks like the team once again doesn’t have a true lead off hitter
