Interesting that they called up Antone. Now you really can't put Farmer in the game unless it's to catch.

Would be interested to know Bell’s reasoning for removing Castellanos yesterday.

I wasn’t shocked, he’s an aggressive manager, maybe wanted to get Jankoski some reps, and his defense on the field.

But game wasn’t that close, and Nick is a star player on Opening Day. Didn’t seem like a defensive switch was necessary at that spot.

Probably will never hear it, but if somebody does, please post.

I would have thought DeLeon might have been first pitcher up.

Well he pinch ran for him with the Reds up 5-1 in the 7th. I wouldn't call that a blow out or a game out of reach.

I hope Reds are not the team signing Josh Harrison.

    Edit; It's the Nats. Interesting,

Wasn’t a blow out but it wasn’t exactly a nail biter. Four run lead, bottom seven, at home. You have a star player in his first Reds game, Opening Day. Bell had to know Nick wouldn’t be happy about that move.

Bell might have figured Nick was unlikely to hit again. He arguably was going for the jugular, wanted the steal and a sixth run right there.

I’d like to hear his answer. I doubt most managers would have done that, but I’m not criticizing until I know Bell’s reasoning.

I believe De Leon just started the game on Wednesday so I wouldn't think he be available to pitch till at least tomorrow

He only pitched 2 innings, as did Raley, and Raley pitched last night. It just shows you how high they are on Antone.

I agreed with the decision. Until he proves he can play adequate defense and doesn't want to DH this is gonna happen. Now if the game was closer, you can't take his bat out. This season is about winning. Nick most likely wasn't gonna get another ab. Janokowski is faster and far superior on defense. Nick is a competitor of course he was not gonna be happy. If he proves he is better at defense this wont be necessary. Really a non issue at this point.

Why? What does Davidson have to do with Farmer? They still have 3 catchers and 3 SS.

Farmer is the backup catcher tonight. Who's the third?
