Moustakus =B+ Looks solid-- a good addition
Castellanos- D- Who complains like he did on day one after being lifted in late innings.. High strikeouts. Seem like an individualist.
Akiyama= C Nothing to get excited about.
If he can hit over .240 he will be a improvement Jankowski= B High ceiling. If he can hit, could be an everyday guy. Looks like Bronson too!
Strop = B Looks pretty good keeping the ball down which other Reds relievers don't do on a consistent basis.

Do we really have enough to grade them?

    Moose would be an A
    Nick is a C-
    Akiyama a B
Jankowski gets an LOL - would have been ROFLMAO but he stole a base.
    Strop A-.

After 3 games? Cast a D-? Btw, the night he was pulled he grabbed a coach after the game and took reps in the OF....I'll take that guy all day

3 games is a tear in a salted sea, even in a 60 game season

I have high hopes for Nick. But I admit I'm concerned after his weak attempts to hit the curve this weekend. Maybe they were really good curves and he is still warming up. But of course we know there is little time to wait in a 60 game season.

It's really not anything new though. I noticed that last year when he was with the Cubs and we faced him and seemed to get him out consistently with it. Hopefully he does enough good things despite that hole in his swing.

Actually, I'd like to change my grade on Castellanos - still considering we've only had him 3 games.

That hissy fit/temper tantrum he threw after the game Friday really rubs me the wrong way. And considering Bell has OM-OCD (Over Management Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), this is going to happen all year.

Can't totally disagree here. That display after the game was....odd.

Was it a “hissy fit?” Others lauded him “getting work in.”

Not sure that a fair grade can be given on any of these guys even after 60 games. We tend to evaluate players based on sample sizes stretched out over 162 games. But managers - not just Bell - are treating every game like it is the 7th Game of the World Series.

In a normal 162 game season, Castellanos does not get lifted for a defensive replacement in the seventh inning on Opening Day. Especially with a 7-1 lead.

Why do you want to report on the Cards?

Reportcards looks better even if incorrect.

I’m glad Castellanos is pissed he got yanked. Let your best players play and play matchup when it makes sense. He’s a big free agent signing. He should play every inning every day. It’s a 60 game season.

I will also say that I enjoy someone who actually talks to the media and doesn’t just give blah answers to sound good. Unless it becomes a problem for the team.

Shogo - Incomplete since Bell is regulating him to platooning.
