    Which relievers do you trust?

The start of the season has been rough for the Reds bullpen. Yesterday nobody got the job done. So let's say the Reds get a solid 6 IP start and then need to go to the pen to hold the lead, who would you trust out on the mound to get that job done?

You can pick as many or as few as you wish in the poll.

There needs to be a none of the above option or I can't vote.

Re: Which relievers do you trust?

Mahle (once he returns) and Sims are the guys I probably start pushing into more critical roles. I would give them both multiple innings a few games a week.

Antone has been intriguing. Strop is probably worth giving a longer leash to, as he's been here before and it looks like he has enough stuff to get hot.

Our "core 3" I don't trust right now, but I still like Amir the best. Lorenzen and Raisel should be moved immediately to the bottom of the depth chart until they figure things out, along with Stephenson and Reed.

The only established guy coming off a good year is Lorenzen and he's wiped out that trust in 3 appearances. I'm sure a few will step up, but we probably won't know who for a month or so. I hope they pick the right guys because by then, the season is toast if not. Its why I hated that Pedro Strop was the big acquisition in this area. He may have had the worst year of any of them.

Maybe this ends up being Nick Lodolo and/or Hunter Greene a la K-Rod when he came up. Hopefully they are still in the hunt when they get there.

I trust all but Sims, Raley and Antone. Sims is really the only one of the three to even have a chance to be trusted. His 5.54 BB/9 as a reliever, is too much to overcome, even with a 11.44 K/9.

The other guys are not on top of their games right now, but have not lost my trust with a handful of bad innings among them. I never thought the group was going to be great, but still think it can be acceptable.

Why isn't Jeff Shaw on the list? I'd take him out of retirement right now.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

Re: Which relievers do you trust?

I can’t vote that I trust any Reds reliever with the game on the line. Overall I have little trust in this pen right now.

I do have some trust in a few guys. I have some trust in Iglesias in closing situations. Some trust in Garrett against LHH. I have trust in the middle relievers to be adequate middle relievers.

I am developing trust in a few young guys. I think Sims could develop into a late innings guy, for example.

I had trust in Lorenzen. He was injured in summer training. I doubt he’s fully on his game. I could trust him again in the future. He probably was thrown into key situations too soon this year.

It's kind of wild how low the team's closer currently ranks on this list.

I voted for eight players. Maybe I'm an idiot.

Jose Arredondo but only when he doesn't walk the first batter
There are 3 guarantees in life; death, taxes, and the leadoff walk coming around to score.

Re: Which relievers do you trust?

There's too many variables to consider before answering. For instance, with a one run lead, I trust none of them. With a 15 run lead, in the 9th, I trust most of them.

Re: Which relievers do you trust?

It's a sad state of affairs in the bullpen right now. I expect Lorenzen to turn it around. I still like Garrett. But, I can't say I trust any of them to lock down an inning right now.
