    All-Out Astros Attack

Joe Kelly has become a cult hero for throwing at the Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa. He's getting memed everywhere: https://www.instagram.com/p/CDPaW03lCdm/, And his 8-game suspension is setting off a new wave of furor, as the Astros players suffered no penalties whatsoever for their part in the club's sign stealing system during their World Series winning 2017 campaign.

I think MLB wanted Kelly's suspension to strike fear in others who might throw at the Astros. Could do the opposite. Opposing players might be so outraged over the league protecting Houston's players that they make it open season on the Astros. It's already a shortened, weird season. I suspect a number of pitchers will be just fine with the league throwing a suspension at them. They still get their service time. My guess is the more the league tries to shield the Astros, the more the players will try to apply frontier justice.

Even beyond that, will players from the 2017 Astros be wearing a target on their backs for life? Let's say Jose Altuve gets traded to Angels. It's entirely possible pitchers continue to throw at him like he's a stack of milk bottles and they win a prize for knocking him over. The might never go away for them.
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

I think the reason it was 8 games is because he threw behind him up near his head. If that pitch is waist or below probably 3 or 4 games. That being said the players should have gotten some kind of suspension for what they were doing with the sign stealing.

Throwing a baseball at somebody's head is darned near attempted murder. I'm fine with 8 games I guess. I'd start banning guys for it myself. I know everyone hates the astros, but throwing at somebody's head is going too far IMO.

Not only that, but during a pandemic bench clearing brawls sure aren't keeping social distance so touching off one of those with a multiple pitches like this should get even more time added to the suspension.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

    Re: All-Out Astros Attack

I have always thought a pitcher throwing at a batter is the most cowardly thing in sports. If I was king of baseball, I would make it a rule that if a pitcher is determined to have purposely tried to throw at a batter, the batter has the option to get 2 minutes 1 on 1 with the pitcher on the mound.....not teammates can interfere. The 2nd time a pitcher throws at a batter on purpose, the opposing team can choose any player to have 2 minutes 1 on 1 with the pitcher on the mound.

In regards to Kelly....why is he so angry at the Astros.....he was not even on the Dodgers in the 2017 World Series.

    Actions have consequences.

For the cheating Astros, even when they are no longer Astros.

And for those who headhunt cheating Astros.

Simple solution for all involved is to settle it on the scoreboard.

In fairness if you watched Joe Kelly's performance that night he could have easily been aiming low and away.

Edit: I'm not making light of Kelly aiming for his head, just making fun of how wretchedly bad he was off that night.
How do we know he's not Mel Torme?

One thing i know is if I was an Asteriks player I'd be worried anytime my team is up big or down big.

If the game is pretty much out of hand the other team could be even more tempted to bean me.

    My kitchen.

Seriously, this is childish behavior. Throwing at someone's head is not ok, and throwing at someone anywhere does not fill in for whatever punishment MLB neglected to dole out, especially when it can end up getting your own team in the hole against the Astros. If your issue is the integrity of the game, then plunking someone sort of gives you away.
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.

Your rule would have gotten Robin Ventura killed.

Nobody cared about the 95-loss Reds getting bullied every night by another small market team that no one cares about, this is a big market world title contender getting into beanball wars with another big market title contender. Also this is the only sports happening in America right now outside of NASCAR, although the much to ESPN's rejoicing the LeBron Basketball Association is playing games that count starting tonight.
