JMO, but I think the reason why the Cardinals and Marlin players got in trouble is because they like the nightlife! LOL. ... and obviously ignored protocols.

"In my day you had musicians who experimented with drugs. Now it's druggies experimenting with music" - Alfred G Clark (circa 1972)
Exactly. I'm retired, and these are two pastimes where social distancing is pretty much part of the game. I play 18 holes every morning, and twice a week with a couple retired buddies. Do we take precautions? Of course we do. But our behavior is based on science and not fear.
Use common sense. Those who are going to bars and nightclubs, casinos, beaches and other crowded areas and not taking precautions for fools. It's still primarily transmitted person-to-person. It's not out floating around in the atmosphere such as on golf courses or over lakes. This virus is very volatile outside and under ultraviolet rays. But indoor settings, such as grocery stores, restaurants, etc, you need to take precautions.

Guess again.

During his weekly interview on KMOX/1120 AM, #stlcards manager Mike Shildt reveals what has been asked often about: Some COVID-19 positive individuals with team have had to go to the Emergency Room due to symptoms.

Some ballplayers went to the hospital after testing positive -- in a janky test -- and were almost immediately released.
Be afraid America, be afraid.
I mean if you watch that "report" and don't find it ludicrous, than I guess we're kind of done.

MLB has a real problem on their hands with the Cards. They've only played 5 games and even if they play Thursday vs the Tigers that will only leave them 46 days to play 55 games. That means no days off and 9 double headers or 1 double header every 5 days. That's almost impossible. I don't think the Cards will be able to play 60 games this year and thus there will be several teams that won't play 60 games.
So then in that case what do you do? Do you go by win percentage to determine playoffs? We actually have a higher win percentage than the Cards for the last WC spot but traditionally would be considered 1/2 game behind them by win-loss difference.
EDIT: right after I typed this I noticed MLB Network had us and the Mets tied for the last WC, so maybe MLB has already decided this.

That's been a true statement for decades - remember when the star of the franchise was openly cheating and they did nothing? Karma has caught up with them.
It's time to have them sit out for the season and then have the other 29 owners decide how to have the Cardinals dissolved and moved to Montreal with new responsible, less greedy ownership. Old ownership can get their original purchase price back. Its early enough in the season that they can figure out how to have the other Central division teams add a few games to make up for the missed Cardinal games.
You might also institute a minimum games played to qualify for the playoffs. i.e. 50 or 55 games.

https://www.stltoday.com/sports/base...435259117.html“I think whether you get all the way to 60 or not, that’s difficult at this point,” Manfred said in a phone interview Monday afternoon with the Post-Dispatch. “I think it’s possible for them to play enough games to be credible, to be a credible competitor in this season.”
So, how's that going to work in terms of standings? Are they going to forfeit some games, or just player fewer games than everyone else?
