Yeah, I am on my phone and it said that. Now I see the disconnect.

can someone seriously explain why the cardinals are not being forced to use their "taxi squad" to get some of these games in? wasn't that supposed to be the plan if something like this happened?

I think they need to have several days of no one testing positive before they can resume playing.

My theory, because I'm a suffering Reds fan, is that the Cards get healthy and play way less games than everyone else. The result is they still get to be in the playoffs and then go on to win the World Series despite playing 20 less games than other teams.

If it were the Yankees instead of the Cards having all of these issues, would this even be a conversation as to whether or not the Yankees would be in the mix? Of course MLB would find a way to make sure they could still compete come October.

Commissioner Manfred: Cardinals can still be a 'credible competitor' without complete season.

whether you get all the way to 60 or not, that’s difficult at this point,” Manfred said in a phone interview Monday afternoon with the Post-Dispatch. “I think it’s possible for them to play enough games to be credible, to be a credible competitor in this season.”

Like I said in an earlier post, let the Reds stop their season right after going on a big winning streak. That's as fair as letting the Cardinals in the playoffs based off a winning percentage from playing fewer games than other teams.

"the reason for the 60-man player pool is in case a team has several players get covid. then the taxi squad would fill in any roster holes so games can still be played."

*that exact scenario -- several players getting covid -- happens to the cardinals*

"nevermind, let's just wait until your good players are cleared. even if it means taking 2 weeks off from playing"

    what a joke.

None of the Cards players on their 30 can play until they are twice tested. That’s the difference.

They have the 60 man roster so that the other 30 can take quarantined players spots. Otherwise, there is no point to it.

then take them off the 30 man. that's my point. there's a total of 60 players for a reason.

There's 60 players for a reason, but that reason isn't "play your #31-60 players all at the Major League level at the same time". That was never the point of having that many players.

The Cardinals showed a few days ago that there was still spread within their team. So more games got postponed. Until the spread seems to have stopped, they aren't going to play.
