Re: Cardinals-Brewers game postponed due to Cardinals' players testing positive

I just don’t see how the Cardinals can play a meaningful season playoff-wise. Missing 1-2 games I can see allowing. But missing 17 games and counting? No. Just no.

And I just can’t see them making up those games or a large majority of them. Maybe make them come back and play out the rest of their schedule whenever their team gets healthy. Teams still play when they’ve been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. I would consider this a variation on that theme. Manfred should just tell them they are out of the playoffs. But I’m not going to hold my breath on that.

I was one of those saying winning this season would be meaningful, but I didn't forsee some teams cancelling games while others played on. I should have, I guess. This is a mess, like everything else.

I ask again, why is their B team not playing? This is sheer absurdity.

Mth123 explained MLB reasoning in post #234

I don’t agree with it, but the reasoning is that the B team was not meant to replace the A team, it was set up just to keep players ready.

At some point, you have to eliminate the Cardinals from the season. Not only is their lack of games compared to everybody else unfair, but it's going to create massive headaches for their opponents who have more and more doubleheaders to worry about.

Mlb needs to establish a baseline number of games you must play to be playoff eligible.
(Referring to Jack Hannahan signing with a Korean team)
Since there are no teams on the moon, I guess South Korea's far enough from Cincinnati to satisfy me.

They may be waiting to see how many the Cards are able to play.

As absurd as this season has been for the Cards, the Reds have no room to complain as long as they are sub .500.

Cards to resume Saturday with DH vs White Sox. Players being asked to drive separately in rental cars LOL. Not sure that is such a good idea...

League working with union on setting full Cardinals schedule. Players want additional doubleheaders to create off-days. League believes STL still could get close to 60 games, and maybe even to 60 by making up doubleheader if necessary day after season ends.

we both keep asking this. this was supposed to be the plan. what changed?

is this akin to how the goal went from "flattening the curve" to "completely eliminating the virus?"

If the Cardinals play fewer than 60 games, then the Reds get to erase a number of losses from their record.
