Sorry that rich kid stole your girlfriend in 10th grade, but it’s 7 games. Half of which were played without two key players. Lighten up.

How is it 7 games? This is the 5th season. It’s like over 650 games.

And nobody stole my girlfriend in 10th grade. One would have to have a girlfriend in 10th grade for her to be stolen.

I've been a Williams basher, but I think he generally did what needed to be done this year. The only move I didn't like was his move to add Strop in the bullpen. I thought he needed somebody more impactful as a stopper out there. Probably a lefty to push Garrett more into the middle relief area. Adding Strop was fine in and of itself, but that move needed to be a secondary move like adding Jones is viewed. He needed a bigger move to impact the pen IMO and Strop coming off a 5ish ERA was all we got.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

A lot of it is player development, or lack thereof, especially from the pitching aspect.

If he’s in charge of the drafts, then yes he should be fired immediately. This team is just rudderless.

The single number 1 reason why we are where we are is because our best player, Suarez, has a significant offseason injury and has been a complete black hole through 7 games as he gets back up to speed. He’s been right in the middle of all the failed opportunities in close situations.

It’s not the fault of anybody, but another sign of the danger of analyzing 7 games. A few Suarez hits in the situations he’s had would have won at least a game.

Maybe. But this pen is unsustainably bad. It may simply be impossible to develop a “method” for producing strong bullpens by any other means than pure luck. I don’t actually know. They seem much more volatile the last 10 years or so, but maybe they aren’t.

I mean, it’s a bullpen with the sane core as last year, with a few semi interesting new faces (sims, strop, Jones).

It was league average last year.
It’s always missed the big hammer at the end.
I don’t expect it to be a strength.

But it’s not going to handicap is like this all year.

Kris Bryant is batting .210 with a .410 OPS.

    The Cubs are 5-2.

I could stomach getting off to a bad start if we were doing it against good teams, but this team is rolling over to the historically awful Detroit Tigers 4 times in a row. That’s the worst part of this.

    That’s a bingo.

The reds bullpen has been getting absolutely worked by the likes of Austin Romine, CJ Cron, Jacoby Jones, Some guy named Demeritte, and Jonathan Shoop.

    It’s inexcusable.

It’s so bad it feels like it could be failure to coach and scout.
