Two Reds out of the first 6 hitters have swung at the first pitch and are the only outs of the inning so far!

And both were line drives to the OF.

Good to see Suarez's bat waking up.

Perhaps he could be a platoon DH, and occasionally spell Votto at first?

Davidson has a lifetime .813 OPS against lefties, good not great for a specialist. But his last full season, 2018, it was over .880 in 131 MLB PAs. And .941 against lefties in the PCL in 2019.

Nevertheless, they were outs and they upped the pitch count by only the minimum. If you swing at the first pitch, unless there is a special situation, like needing to get the runner in from 3rd, you need to get a hit over 50% of the time.

After the walk to Hiura I thought the Milwaukee odds of scoring were pretty good with lefties Yelich and Morrison coming up, nice work by Disco!
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

why is thom selective in the dialects he overpronounces? he goes all-in on hispanic names. but italian names? not so much.

don't be racist, thom. treat everyone the same. "desclafani" needs more emphasis all the way around.

Nice 3-2 breaking ball by Disco! Morrison swung over it, but it still was on the lower edge of the strike zone.

This is erasure of the flavor he gives to Castellanos

That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read.

If you hit a line drive on the first pitch, you’ve done a good job.

No hitter hits .500 on the first pitch, even if you count only the balls hit into play. Not even close to it.

You are saying players need to take the first pitch pretty much always.

    Welcome to the 0-1 count.

Honestly, I preferred the top of the 1st to the top of the 2nd.
