Ray Boone debuted in majors in 1948 and played through 1960. Bob, his son, played 1972-1990. Bret (1992-2005) and Aaron (1997-2009) followed their father, Bob. Now Jake Boone, Bret’s son, has signed w/ the Nationals and looks to make the Boone’s MLB’s first 4-generation family.

Ten years after fight ended his career, Jason LaRue is living a good life – despite lingering concussion side effects

Forgot Gausman. He's actually doing pretty well as a starter. 4 ERA FIP around 2 and 1.1 WHIP

Reading about LaRue reminded me of the article linked below. My dad bought us tickets right behind home plate so we had a great view of LaRue's unfortunate inning:

Our old RZ crush Jimmy Herget is not having a great start in Texas:

Derek Dietrich has an OBP of 1.000 in 5 plate appearance for the Rangers, 3-3 with 2 HBP. Some things never change it seems...good for him. Full slash line 1.000/1.000/1.333 OPS 2.333

Yeah, Duvall seemed like a pretty good guy. Glad that Sims is doing OK on the return.

It was a mistake choosing VanMeter over Dietrich. Seemed obvious to me, at least.

    Re: Former Reds Watch Thread

I put a longshot bet on the Rangers before the season began with sports betting being legal here in Illinois and my feeling that they were being very overlooked, so I'm not complaining at all about how the Dietrich thing is working out.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

....and Dietrich hits a 3 run HR last night. Still helping us a bit with the WC even on another team...they beat the Rockies.

Agreed. I'll never understand why they let him go. Old time ball player who works hard, plays amazing defense and wants to be part of a team. We would be a lot better off with him at SS.

Because that money was used to sign Moose and Castellanos.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

Jose Iglesias signed for a $3M contract. Freddy Galvis’ 2020 $5M option was picked up by the Reds.

Not the case. He signed for very little. His total cost for 2020 is a 2.5 million salary, $500K for 2021 option if not exercised, and 1 million buyout for Galvis. Total = 4 million.

Galvis costs us 5 million. So we would have saved 1 million by keeping Iglesias over Galvis.
