Both for being 2nd and we’d be a wild card if need be.

The playoff spot is a mirage. With the goofiness of this season I think you have to focus on the loss column. The Reds have 9 losses... only 4 other NL teams have that many.

With 8 teams making the playoffs out of 15, a below .500 may well make the playoffs.

I am basing it on winning percentage, just like MLB.

How can you compare the Cards 3 losses in 5 games as somehow better.

Especially since the Reds are in second place.

Nah. Just focus on the Brewers and the 2-3 Cardinals.

With the way the bullpen and offense has performed we could easily be 4-13. The starting rotation has been that good.

Or the Reds could be 11-6 without the blown saves in games they lost!

Replaced Winker in 6th, not exactly late. So unnecessary.

Or, looking at it more realistically, if the offence and bullpen had been even close to expectation, we should be 13-4.

    Post of the night.

Hint: you don’t truly blow a game until it is over. You gave up in a game the Reds never trailed in. And a good team ended up winning.

Agree on the offense. I don't know what expectation you had for this bullpen, but seeing how they were going to be feeling around for the right combination as they sort through comebackers and never was guys, I expected a lot of late inning losses early in the year. Lorenzen's struggles are the only thing I would label a surprise and even that isn't a huge shock. He was great in 2019 but has been up and down over the years.

Unnecessary is a nice word. Malpractice is the word I'd use.

Bell would laugh at this. He’d say - you can dispute my move but all I did was win. And win despite another bullpen breakdown. Malpractice baseball moves don’t result in wins.
