Umpire gave Luis the first one to Franco, strike one. Make up call.

    Game one is over...

The way the home plate umpire is calling balls and strikes. Forcing Castillo to throw the ball over the middle of the plate. Allowing the KC pitcher to throw the ball 4-5 inches outside to Votto for strikes. Next.

    Welp.

He’ll ultimately be fine but man even with errors behind you you gotta be able to get outs against the Tigers and Royals.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

True, but he deserves blame himself.

Votto should take himself out of the game and run laps.

Luckily the Royals swung at some pitches outside the strike zone.

yes, castillo deserves blame. but when your first baseman drops a ball to begin the inning, that's how bad things happen. they both deserve blame for that horrible inning.

I guess ur a glass is half empty kinda fan? I agree, but it’s only 1 inning. Long way to go in this one. But Castillo needs to quit worrying about pointing to the heavens and start pitching a little bit. God isn’t going to help him get that change up over the plate.

I wonder if the league just kinda figured out Castillo somewhat after the ASB last year. He was pretty bad in the second half. I don’t think he sucks or anything, he still flashes quite a bit of talent but I wonder if he’s more like a 2/3 starters than a potential ace like many believed he could be last year.
