Wonder why Jim Day isn’t a candidate.
He’s not the best by any stretch at PBP but he seems like a familiar guy they could slide in without much fanfare and no one would mind.
It could be as simple as “he’s not good at it” in the minds of some.

Never heard Hoard call baseball much (if at all) but he's excellent on Bengals broadcasts, IMO. MUCH better than Brad Johansen was: "first and ten, give to Rudi, runs up the left side, bounces off a tackler, tackled. (five second pause) Gain of twenty-five." No mention of yardage until well after the play was over! You had to interpret what was happening based on Lap's exclamations in the background. It was the worst.

Hoard's obviously the most logical choice that we know about.
I really don't want them to try and force someone that checks a box (or boxes) for a PR boost. Hire the person who's not going to give me a headache while watching a baseball game.

Mark Sheldon said he's heard the Reds could announce a replacement sometime this month.
I'd love to see Dan Hoard named as the new Reds announcer, He would do an outstanding job.

Give me a boring guy who is pretty seamless with Welsh and that’s all I need.
Speaking of, probably time to start thinking about the next color guy as well. That’s the important part of the broadcast for me anyway. Too bad a Hall of Famer with 200 million in the bank probably wouldn’t be interested in a few years.

It is on the whole probable that we continually dream, but that consciousness makes such a noise that we do not hear it. Carl Jung.
Given how good both Lecure and Graves have been in limited exposure, I think we'll be OK for our next color analyst.
I'd even be fine using Cowboy on TV, and using whoever is the new guy on radio. Cowboy gets about 73% less annoying when he's on TV, because he turns down the gimmick and turns up the expertise (e.g. he has the moving pictures to back him up, so he can drill down on mechanics and such).
But of course, the Reds will probably run with a rotating crew of 8 various announcers before all is said and done, jumping between both booths. Unless that was all just something they did to accommodate Brennamans (Thom's football schedule, Marty's part time desire)....

How long before radio is just a simulcast?
