I just can't see the Reds risking backlash by not firing Thom.
I mean, think about it, other than his last name, guys like Thom are a dime a dozen.
Not worth damaging the Reds' brand to keep him around. He literally provides no "Value add" to the club.

Not that this should matter...but if he was universally beloved by the fan base, I could see the Reds giving him a second chance. I have to believe he was on thin ice anyway.
