About now is when the baseball gods deliver another drought to remind us of the perils of expressing joy.

Votto on his at-bat in the ninth: I wasn't doing much thinking up there. I think in the beginning of the season, I complicated some things and tried to control the situation. Sometimes I think you have to let go and I did that.” #reds

To play devils advocate it’s been a small sample size and Father Time is undefeated. I’m not advocating for his release but as long as there is a DH in the NL he needs to leave his glove at home.

When I see the 2016 Reds, I see a 100 loss team and no direction.

Or a little league defensive play at first base lol.

I mean, I love Votto, but dude had as routine of a defensive play as possible at first base and blew it. After it’s all said and done we will probably be able to look back and say that was the play that ended the season.

Again, I love Votto, but I wish we didn’t have to watch this for the next 4 years or whatever it is.
What would you say.....ya do here?

Only thing keeping me going is the knowledge that, in the next 4-5 years, Votto will retire and the Reds will go 162-0 every season afterwards forever.

What was that yesterday? Is he having issued with his vision in the field?

    Terrible footwork. Zero defensive fundamentals

That was bad... equally bad was the grounder Moose couldn't get to. 90% of the second baseman in MLB get that ball, I just can't see him being a plus on that side of the field, add in a regressing Votto and that side of the field is sieve

If Votto is having back problems, that might lead to the errors when stretching.

Votto has never exactly been Hal Chase at first.

His problems stretching is that he stretches too soon. The right way is to wait for the throw and stretch to the ball. Votto stretches to the guy throwing the ball before the ball is even thrown. If the throw is even a little off line, he's already committed and has no way to shift his feet to adjust. He's done that his whole career. Early in his career he was fortunate to have guys like Phillips and Rolen throwing to him and they were generally right on the money. It just looks worse now because he's not OPSing 1.000.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I was a poor Little League player, but tall for my age and good enough at catching a ball that they put me at first. It only took one time for my coach to tell me I was doing this to make me stop. Not to be one of "those guys," but you'd think someone might say something at some point.
