There has to be a better option than Josh Van Meter somewhere in the Reds organization. I can think of several.

I'm not a fan of jankowski at all but if this is your options I would have put him in center field and Shogo in left and let winker at DH. At least you improve the defense why would you ever let Van meter DH

Shogo needs to pick up his game. Aside from generally playing good D he really has done nothing at the plate this year. A .611 OPS ain't gonna cut it.

Righty vs lefty doesn’t work if the batter can’t hit. JVM has not proven himself to be a major leaguer and I would play a RH hitter against RH pitchers before I put him in the game. Now he will go 3-4 tonight and win the game for us.

He may turn it around but at this point he looks like a replacement level player.

This part of the schedule is going to make or break us, 15 straight games against the Cards, Cubs and Brewers.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

At 2 games under it we don’t pick it up we may be out if it when this 15 game stretch is over.

I am glad there is baseball but you just cannot take this situation seriously when they have played what is just a full month of games. Bad teams get out to great starts a lot as do good teams being the opposite. JVM proved that he was a good bench/role player last year. He’s been overplayed and bad now for what is not even a first month of a season.

As long as we put an ass whooping on the sh*tbirds, I will fall asleep a happy man. Shortened season or not.

I feel the same way. I’d probably give Phil Ervin the shot. But as you say, JVM will probably prove us wrong.

    Disco comments on Thom

Anthony DeSclafani: "There's really no place for stuff like that anywhere. I'm sure the Reds will have to do what they have to do. ... We don't need that and it might be a better thing that's he's gone, to be honest." #Reds
