    Iglesias a 1-2-3 9th with a K for the save. 9 pitches/8 strikes. Baseball is a funny game

That early in the game? With this bullpen? With a pandemic going on?

Last time the Reds won a game where their hitters had 2 or fewer hits was a 1-0 victory at St. Louis on 7/29/2015.

Both games were started by Anthony DeSclafani.

Speaking of Disco, he did not have his best stuff tonight and battled through it about as well as could be expected. Outside of that one wacky start he's looked good.

Reds bullpen retires 14 straight hitters after Lorenzen walks the first batter he faced tonight.

Yeah people are missing the big picture that except for Iggy's blowup the pen has been light out for over a week now.

Speaking of Iggy, did he take a pitch out of his arsenal tonight? I seemed to recall he couldn't throw a curveball for a strike last night, and I'm not sure he threw it at all tonight.

Chris Davis will finish the season with the worst qualified batting average in Major League Baseball history.

To be considered a qualified hitter, a batter must reach 502 plate appearances in a given season.

His 1,696 career strikeouts are far more than this 1,099 career hits.

Davis has 16 homers in 522 plate appearances. Unfortunately, Davis has contributed next to nothing elsewhere, leading to a miserable .168/.243/.296 batting line.

The next lowest qualified batting average in MLB history is .179, posted by Rob Deer in 1991 and Dan Uggla in 2013.

With the shortened season, no player will have 502 qualified plate appearances, so VanMeter will be a statisical anomaly.

I just posted the Hal King comparison in a thread on the main forum. I thought I might be the first. Guess not.

Other than Sims and Garrett for one batter, today was the first day they were able to pitch with a little pressure. Garbage innings by Lorenzen and Reed don't count.

The number of plate appearances to qualify for a batting title this year will be 502 x 60/162=186.

Otherwise, there can be no batting title.
