I think the "fire" or "care" or "motivation" themes aren't anywhere close to the issue. Teams that aren't hitting look lethargic. No one is on base and the game is pretty boring. That's just how it looks. It doesn't mean guys don't care. If anything, they are pressing, expanding their zone to try and get things going and getting themselves out. It's in their head now. It's not effort, it's a team slump. You get out of it by putting the best guys in their and giving them confidence, not by all these constant changes. Keep the career minor leaguers on the bench and win or lose with their best. They just had 4 days off. They've been continuously playing since Wednesday (gasp!!). They aren't tired. Time to go out and play.
