    9-2 forceout?

There was a lot of head scratching on the game thread last night about the Reds’ 9-2 forceout of Freddy Galvis (along with a lot of frustration comments). Turns out it is a rare event.

Cincinnati Reds' Freddy Galvis becomes the first 9-2 forceout since 2009

Would have liked to hear what Galvis was thinking there. I mean it wasn't hit deep enough to even tag up so I don't get it. Just a misjudge by him I assume. It happens I guess..I doubt we win anyways.

I'm glad I missed last night's game and did not see that.

Turned out, it was also a helluva throw by Gamel...

    https://www.mlb.com/news/ben-gamel-9...rs-right-field

    “Then things got weird.

Nick Castellanos lined what appeared to be a base hit to right field. Before one could mark an RBI single on the scorecard, Gamel rifled a 90.2 mph throw home. It was his hardest tracked throw this season by Statcast, and it became his hardest-tracked putout ever when Galvis, who had held up to make sure Gamel didn’t make the catch, lost the race home. Alertly, Brewers catcher Omar Narváez stretched like a first baseman to receive the throw“

More than any other American sport, baseball creates the magnetic, addictive illusion that it can almost be understood.

I blame the third base coach. He should have been Freddy's eyes on the play.

What was David Bell arguing about? I bet he was saying, "hey I'm just going to stay out here for a minute so I look like I've got my player's back."

Exactly! He was tagging up all the way. There was no hesitation, no start and stop. 3rd base coach just as responsible.

I love that quote. I've watched baseball as long as I can remember and one of the most alluring things about the sport is that even after a lifetime of watching it, you will never fully grasp it.

    Two things:
    1) incredibly alert play by the RFer
    2) Home ump had to feel ridiculous after initially signaling safe

A combination of a bunch of things that didn't go our way.

So, you know, the story of the Reds for the past forty years (outside of one year).

I imagine him arguing is like one of those Bad Lip Reading videos but that is what he's actually saying.
