    RIP Justin Townes Earle

38 is way too young. My wife and I were big fans but we almost expected this with him. We’ve talked it about it before. It may turn out to be his death had nothing at all to do with the demons he fought, but with him it’s hard not to assume it had something to do with it. I hope I’m wrong.

A tweet from the Head and the Heart summed it up pretty well: “This year is a thief.”

A rugged and raw singer and songwriter. I really enjoyed his music, although I never got to see him live. He battled some demons at times.
"In our sundown perambulations of late, through the outer parts of Brooklyn, we have observed several parties of youngsters playing 'base', a certain game of ball. Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our close rooms, the game of ball is glorious"

He lived exactly as hard as you thought. I'd met him a couple times, never sober. This one's a real shame.

He was one of my favorites. I was shocked when I read this. RIP.

This one hurts really badly. He had an innate ability to beautifully and artistically channel the pain and demons he battled into incredibly beautiful music and lyrics. Fantastic story teller. If you ever heard him speak, he seemed to be a real student of the music that came before him.
I think every music fan has a select few artist that really do it for them, and he was one of mine. I know I’m going to miss him. RIP.

Yeah, he’s on the short list of artists I really connect with at a personal level. This one hurts. There’s a guy named Ryan Montbleau that basically writes songs specifically for me it seems, but JTE may be next on the list.

This one captures him so well, IMO.
