That was the formula for the '76-'77 Blazers. They had the two best in Walton and Lucas (Defense is half of it, so Doc falls behind Lucas in the Championship Series at this time of both of their careers), and the Sixers probably had the next best six players before Hollins falls in at 9th.

The disparity between 1 and 2 for the Lakers is huge over the next six (probably next eight), which are all Heat players.

Joeger and Pritchard are going to be a lethal combination. They are a great match that could get the Pacers to the Championship. Pritchard will convince Oladipo to stay.

That certainly doesn't help the Heat.

Look for Spo to try to beat up AD with Meyers Leonard, Olynyk, and Crowder.

Herro and Dunn (who had a very, very good Game One) can play the point and not lose much.

Look for every one of those 18 fouls to come into play on Defense. All three are very good 3-pt shooters with Meyers Leonard being the best, so this will pull A.D. out from the paint to open things up for Herro to drive to the hoop after they have set a pick up high where A.D. has to try to chase Herro from the 3-pt line to the hoop, exhausting him possibly to throw his Offensive shot off just a bit.

You're talking about Spoelstra and the Heat. Probably no team in the NBA the last five years has been better at making adjustments. This series has a long ways to go.

Apparently no Bam and no Dragic in Game Three either.

    Sigh.

Jimmy just played maybe the best finals game I've ever seen.

i submit that was the best finals individual effort since Clyde in the Willis Reed game in 1970- 36 points, seven rebounds, 19 assists, and six steals. Jimmy always had the heart of a warrior, and Buzz taught him this incredible work ethic. I just never realized he had this much talent. Plus he spent most of the game defending LeBron.

Game 6 of the Lakers-76ers final. Jabbar hurt, and can't play. A rookie by the name of Earvin Johnson switches from point guard to center, and puts up these numbers: 42 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists.

    Good call, that.

Butler's numbers are in the discussion for best ever, but Magic's game was so, so big. Goes to show you how rare this Butler performance is. Big-time game is an understatement.

He absolutely carried the Heat to the win.

This victory was absolutely massive. It allows Miami to kind of re-set. Assuming Bam gets healthy, they could well challenge the Lakers.

What's weird in the win is how badly everyone else on the Miami roster played. Olynyk had a good game offensively (and Leonard), but everyone else was throwing rocks.

the difference in the game was AD. He didn't play very many minutes (odd for Vogel) and was largely passive while in the game.

Vogel didn't have much of a choice once AD picked up his third foul in the 2nd quarter, forcing LeBron's minutes to be extended since Vogel cannot afford to deploy a lineup without either AD or LeBron on the floor.

    1) I don't believe in pulling players because of foul trouble.

    2) It seems difficult to believe that Jimmy Butler was able to play a physical 45 minutes, and yet not pick up a single foul.

That's an interesting alternate reality you've got there. For the record, Doc averaged 30-7-5 and shot .543 in that series. What swung that series was George McGinnis being an absolute nonfactor (though he did finally show in Game 6) and Bob Gross having an out-of-body experience.
