ChiSox take the game 4-3 and clinch playoffs. What a turn around from last season where they won 72 and lost 89.

Up 3 games with 10 left so combination of 7 wins or 7 Twins losses captures division.

Maybe Twins will lose a few to Cubs now and give up on first place in AL Central.

That might affect their pitching for the Reds series, which would be good.

The '99 Reds don't even sniff a one-game playoff situation without 'idiot' Guzman.

Marlins lost...just two games over .500.

Giants pushed a couple across...4-3 Mariners going into the bottom of the 6th with the Mariners up in San Jose (bizarro world we live in).

2020 continues to show us how many things we have to change due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes MLB celebrations after clinching postseason bids and clinching the division.

MLB playoff celebrations are being dealt a sobering blow this season. According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the league is forbidding the presence of alcohol from any stadium celebration as teams clinch playoff spots and advance through each round of the postseason.

I know that is only 109 innings, but I have much more faith in Lorenzen than DeSclafani right now.

The much more difficult decision in my mind is Garcia vs. Galvis at SS once Suarez is back from paternity leave.
I think Garcia vs. Galvis is no contest. Galvis doesn't really hit any better than Garcia. Defense is night and day in Garcia's favor. IMO, the question is Garcia vs. Farmer. I like Farmer, but I'll go Garcia all day long.

I mean if you expect Galvis' .206 BABIP to continue than yeah there is no difference in the offensive game, but I think Galvis has much more potential with the bat at least this season. I love Garcia's energy and defense, but I'm not sure the Reds can forgo any offense now.

Would be nice if the Reds sneak into the playoffs with a second place finish instead of a wild card. Mostly because it would mean the Cardinals didn’t finish second.

On the flip side, the soon-to-be 31 year-old has never been a good hitter. On his fangraphs page he has awful statcast and batted ball metrics. What are you expecting?

Garcia is a 20 year old who really got overpromoted and is carrying a single digit wRC+ last I saw. Are we sure Freddy isn’t a better hitter than him?
